Background

My name is Tasneem Hami. I own a hand embroidery export business based in Mumbai, India. In late 2014, we were approached by NCRUSTED NYC — a New York-based fashion company owned and operated by Romi Godhwani and his wife Pooja Romi Godhwani — for a large order of hand-embroidered garments.

After extensive communication, Romi Godhwani placed an order worth approximately USD 34,500. The agreed terms were unambiguous: Romi Godhwani was to make all pending payments in full before we released the shipment. We had no reason to distrust him at the time.

What Happened — A Timeline

Late 2014

Romi Godhwani and Pooja Romi Godhwani of NCRUSTED NYC contact us and place an order for hand-embroidered garments worth approximately USD 34,500.

19 Dec 2014

Romi Godhwani emails us a wire transfer document claiming that all invoices have been cleared and full payment of USD 34,500 has been made to our bank account.

20 Dec 2014

Trusting Romi Godhwani's payment proof, we dispatch all goods via courier to the parties specified by him. We have full documentary evidence of this shipment including courier receipts and tracking numbers.

Dec 2014 onwards

Our bank confirms that no payment was ever received. The wire transfer document sent by Romi Godhwani was entirely fabricated — a fake document designed solely to deceive us into releasing the shipment.

2015 onwards

Romi Godhwani and Pooja Romi Godhwani refuse to answer calls or respond to emails. No payment, no acknowledgment, no response of any kind. The debt remains unpaid to this day.
